Father's Day, Shots and All things Family

On Sunday last Jake and I loaded Bentley up in the van with an assortment of clothes and toys and snacks and we drove up to Brigham City to see Grandma Great and Papa Bear. It was too fun. When we first got there Bentley would have nothing to do with either Great Grandparent, but as you can see Grandma won him over with her sparkling charm:

So then the afternoon's entertainment then progressed to this:
Genius, right?

We ran into lots of family at the party, Anne and Devin were home with Boston but we got to see Kess, Kirk and Tammy, Todd and Alison, Emily and her cute family, Josh and Hilary and their kids, etc... It was nice to get to know them and spend time with the family. Hilary and Josh found a house, they are moving to being Dental School, I guess the dentist who Josh is going to work for is really particular in how she wants things done so he will be doing orientation for two weeks or something.
Emily's kids have allergies (I didn't know this but it was interesting to me, worth repeating) and so she made these amazing rice crispy treats with carmel, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, cookies and pretzels. wow. It was so good. and her twins? SO adorable.

After everyone left we sat and grilled Matt about girls he liked and school and things. Alison made him ask everyone still there a 'vital question' because all he'd done all evening was watch a basketball game. Then Kess told us about his dating life.

Jacob and I turned his phone into a baby monitor! Cool, huh? yes. Very cool. When Bentley cries, if he reaches a certain volume, his phone auto texts me.

I think that is really all that happened this weekend. Bentley eventually warmed up to Grandma and Grandpa but he woke up like every twenty minutes for like two hours during the night, I had to go into a different room than Jacob and sleep with Bentley IN the bed because he just couldn't sleep! It was Miserable.

Yesterday Jake and I stopped by to see Anne, Devin and Boston. We brought them diapers, wipes and outfits like machiel said to and they were very happy to receive them. They all seem to be doing well! Boston is tinier than Bentley ever was and just as cute as a little button.

Bentley got his shots and he didn't get upset until the second shot. He was such a trooper!! My tough little man! He looked at me after the first shot like... "Mommy wouldn't hurt me on purpose," and then after the second one he just got so sad and let out a wail. I will have you know that he only wailed for a second, he took his pacifier and all was right with the world.
Bentley is now 15.3 lbs and in the 49th percentile for weight. His head was almost 17 cm, which means that he is the 84th percentile, which is lower than last time, but still a big head. :) My favorite is his length. Bentley was 25 inches long and in the 72nd percentile for his age. That means he is a tall baby! Yay, Bentley! I love my little boy.
To end my day, my friends Isabel, Camille and her boyfriend came over and pulled staples out of the bedroom floor so we can get carpet and I got rear-ended by some girl while coming out of the wal-mart parking lot. Thankfully my car was fine. I think her bumper just smacked the back of my bumper and neither car seemed damaged. Bentley and I were fine too, though, it scared me half to death!

Okay, this was more of a play by play, at least I didn't go over everything we ate or what we all wore or something like that. Here are some pictures. I thought you would enjoy them

OH!!! One more thing. Bentley is taking Rice Cereal in his bottles now and he slept for almost seven hours last night. Hallelujah!

Happy Father's Day!

Look how big the twins are! they are SO CUTE

:D Grandma Williams, determined.

Bentley, after his shots, waiting to make sure he doesn't react to any of them.

And then we took some pictures of Grandpa's Tomato Cages. Here they are.

Tuesday

Last weekend Bentley and I went to Cedar City with Grandma Wendie. It was quite the adventure. Mom, Roc and Rad did a great job and it was so fun to cheer for them. I'm afraid Bentley and I have had a long recovery though, I think I had the least amount of sleep I have EVER had since Bentley was born while on that trip. I wish I could say it has caused him to be cranky all this week, but honestly, I think he's just entering a new phase.

Today is the twelfth. In 6 days Bentley will be getting his second set of shots and will be eating rice cereal. I won't lie, he has eaten his fair share of things in his tiny life but his main source of food is still milk. I have included a movie of Bentley's second attempt at eating Bananas, mommy's turn. Jacob had a turn first but you can hear the pump in the background. Here is exhibit A.  OH yeah, I'm a little loud, so turn down your speakers.

So, maybe we are horrible people but it's safe and he enjoys it. He really likes raspberry lemonade and raspberry creamies. well, I like them and he enjoys eating what I'm eating. I love it because he is so hungry that he gets frustrated that we aren't feeding him fast enough, so it usually dissolves into taking a bottle. He's still little so I am not in any hurry for him to switch to solids. Grow slow baby! Grow slow.

Let's see...This week I discovered some AMAZING Cookies  <---- your life will never be the same. Novice Chef, you are my hero. Have you ever had those decadent soft, fluffy sugar cookies with half an inch of frosting, sprinkled with delicious mini candis--known as sprinkles? I have. They are the Loft House Cookies and I love them, love them, love them. WELL, I decided to make them (Thank you, Pinterest). 4 dozen cookies. I think I have eaten almost seven of them. Am I still losing weight? Doubtful. Very doubtful. Anyway, it's a little time consuming and basically begging for a cavity but they were quite possibly the most delicious thing I have ever tasted.

Also this week as I was being all home-makey I was pulling tape off the ceiling when I gave myself a nice little paper/tape cut between my thumb and forefinger. Ouch! It hurt! I got over confident, I guess. That tape showed me what was what. I learned some gross things about the processed foods in america and I never want to eat again and I ALMOST cleaned the entire downstairs bedroom so I could rip out the carpet. Almost.

                Things to do this week:
Bring cookies to my dear friends
               Work out
               Pay Bills
Go to BBQ, bring games and a side dish
Make whoopie cake for Father's Day
               Order father's day pretzels
buy Anne a baby gift for us and the family
pick up father's day gift for grandpa great
               go to temple
get Jacob a gift for Father's Day
                get some sleep
clean my house and rip out the carpet AND order new carpet

Wow, you know what? I'm always saying that I have nothing to do and I feel so bad for just chilling at home all day. Frankly, I think I just procrastinate. And all of that seems like a lot, but really, it's not. I could easily do it all in one day and still have time to kick back and drink raspberry lemonade.

So this week Mom sent out an email that Dad, in his Foreign exchange Trading, feels like the Euro will collapse in three months and the dollar will collapse in around 6 months. Whether or not that actually happens I am feeling a little anxious. I will admit we don't have much in the realm of food storage and I have been feeling a growing anxiety to get my food storage. At least get started. I have been studying  about it today and I feel a little better. I will focus on getting a weeks worth and then ninety days and then expand from there. I realize that we are a family now and we can't go running to our parents every time we get a little scared. Not that there is anything wrong with asking for help, but in the event of an emergency we can't just expect anyone to be prepared for us. It's like having your own oil.

Well, I hope that was enjoyable. :D I am off to bed. It's eleven and Bentley has been asleep for an hour and  a half. Glorious.

I love you guys! Miss you tons! See you soon.
